Spring Equinox greetings, folks.
As INKLINGS subscribers it is my delight to share with you all first the NATURAL INK. Colour Community details. If you would like to head straight to that info for a look-see head over here.
The hedgerows are frothy, the general petal vibe is yellow (The Celandine, Primrose and Daffodil are bringing it) and the pain and injustice in the wider world is ongoing. These things being simultaneously present can feel jarring in their juxtaposition, and at other times the simple beauty of emerging colour helps to soften the contractions I have in this body.
These last weeks I have been making space for the fullness of both of these things, the darkness and the light, and how they sit together in each and every thing. I say “I have been making space for”, but what has actually been happening is recognising where the darkness was consuming things to the point where care full action was becoming very hard. One’s actions at times of witnessing great horror in the world can feel so small and hopeless. Yet, what I came to realise through conversations with dear ones, and leaning into the offerings from others who I see holding space for it all while caring for their own bodies and minds, is that the interweaving and inseparability of standing for non-violence and liberation in the wider worlds needs to have home roots in our immediate human lives. Without negating the pain the beauty and care can be present, and without detracting from the beauty and care there can be a making space for the pain. For the movement in between these states, and for all that moves within the day.
The Spring Equinox is an external, seasonal point of holding this moment of equilibrium in the light and dark in the day and night. And it is a moment. Movement and shifting is constant. I warmly welcome the accompaniment of the Blackbirds and Buckthorn Blossom as the next six months of the more outward time of the year unfold.
The NATURAL INK. Colour Community
It is today that I open the doors and warmly invite you to the NATURAL INK. Colour Community.
I have been busy squirrelling away with the gracious and skilled support of my tech support, Lotus, to bring this exciting offering to you. It is a place to share all I know about colour making, and to slowly and spaciously support you to gather and practice these skills, and rest and reflect and live, through a turning of the seasons.
A 12-month, 4-season, 13-moon meander in land-based making, bringing attention to and tending our inner and outer landscapes.
Part course, part community, part invitation to spend more time outdoors, part support to make things by hand, part radical and sacred space for care and survival, part an elemental fortification in facing the personal and collective challenges of our time.
