Love Ira's quote too. I see this all the time with my stained glass students. Some expect to come along and be a master crafter after one session and I can feel their disappointment when it doesn't look absolutely perfect the first time. I like to counterbalance this by celebrating the mistakes. Not only do mistakes show willingness, but they are micro opportunities for growth. There is so much pressure to be perfect, we can be quite cruel to ourselves.
Hello Bean. Itβs great to hear that these voice notes are bringing cameradie and connection. Being a process-led human I find these less material, more reflective aspects of practice just as interesting and valuable to explore. Doing this out loud and sharing with others is a good thing. Wishing you well with you winter work.
Now i'm catching up on all your podcasts! So weird you should pick this particular question out of The Artists Way. This was the question that led me to a complete life change about 27 years ago. My answer was to be a dancer/writer/performer. 2-months later I enrolled on a creative dance class. The following year I was doing a performing arts degree, now i'm doing a creative writing MA. I did a Monica with bells on! π
